Located at 4853 Cordell Avenue, the new space will be housed at the previous Unity Woods Yoga Studio, which stopped operating at the location in summer of 2020. Owned and operated by Maryland native Jen Dobbins, Unity Dance & Movement is the in-person outgrowth of a virtual dance space she’s operated since 2020.

“When COVID closed many area dance studios, several parents and students approached me, asking that I teach virtually,” Dobbins says. “I started offering instruction, via Zoom, in my living room. Word gradually got around and I eventually hired some of my former colleagues to keep up with demand. Now, as the region transitions beyond the pandemic, we have a unique opportunity to bring back in-person dance instruction to Bethesda.”

Bacall & Bogie, an “experiential, luxury fashion boutique” that is part art gallery, part sustainable clothing shop, is now open at 8001 Wisconsin Ave Suite 202 in Bethesda. According to the store, “We offer an edited selection of chic, versatile, and sustainably produced garments and accessories from Spain, France, Portugal, Denmark, and more. Committed to quality over quantity, we’re on a mission to make our clientele’s closets easier to shop by providing new, interesting designs for every role they play: the Momtrepreneur, the Traveler, the Artist, the Trendsetter, et., ALL. And we work with brands that respect people and the planet. These choices are simple, but significant. Additionally, Bacall & Bogie is a place to gather. In the post COVID-world we wanted to return to a better and stronger community than we had before, so we created it. Whether it’s an art exhibit, artist workshop, you name it, we want this to be a place for you to come and experience something new.”

“When asked why I started Bacall and Bogie, the answer is pretty straightforward: I am different than I was before. During that first spring of COVID, I remember seeing the cherry blossom blooms brighter than they ever have been. The sky was bluer. The Venetian canals ran clear. It became even more apparent that the way we treat the environment needed to change, and if it did, we could reap the benefits. Our purchasing power and the decision to support sustainable and ethical brands has a major impact on that,” said owner Laura Genova.

Coca-Cola announced Monday that it would be phasing out the Honest Tea line from its portfolio. Bethesda resident Seth Goldman cofounded the drink company in 1998 and was its CEO until 2015– when he stepped back and  became executive chairman of Beyond Meat. In 2008, The Coca-Cola Company took a 40% investment stake in Honest Tea before fully acquiring the brand in 2011. Coca-Cola will continue to market and sell the Honest Kids line of beverages. Goldman tweeted, “Today’s announcement by Coca-Cola that they will be discontinuing @HonestTea  is a gut punch to all the sweat, tears, and incredible passion that went into building our beloved brand. My thoughts are with our longtime partners and friends, the #organic and @FairTradeCert farmers who helped develop their communities and protect their ecosystems with the tens of millions of pounds of sugar and spice they sold us.”

The Coca-Cola system will continue to produce and distribute the HONEST Kids line of organic juice drinks and explore licensing ventures and innovation opportunities for the HONEST brand in other categories. “We are phasing out the HONEST teas product line, but are not selling the HONEST brand,” Tandon clarified.
