Marilyn Balcombe Announces Candidacy for Montgomery County Council (District 2)

Marilyn Balcombe of Germantown, the president and CEO of the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce, announced that she will run for Montgomery County Council (District 2) in 2022.

Balcombe previously ran for an at-large seat in the county council back in 2018, placing 5th out of 33 candidates– the 4 candidates with the most votes were elected to the council.

This year the number of county council seats will increase from 9 to 11, as a result of the 2020 ballot initiative. 4 at-large seats will remain with 2 districts being added to the current 5. Due to existing term limits, 5 of the 11 seats will be up for grabs including District 2, which is currently being represented by Councilmember Craig Rice.

Currently, District 2 consists of Barnesville, Boyds, Clarksburg, Damascus, Darnestown, Germantown, Goshen, and Montgomery Village.

Balcombe describes herself as a lifelong Democrat and Montgomery County resident and community advocate for nearly 30 years.

She will host an official campaign launch virtually on May 2nd.

More information can be found on her campaign website.
