4/3 Update: Donut Run will remain closed for the weekend to give its staff some rest before returning on Monday, 4/5

Shawn Petersen and Nicole Dao opened Donut Run in Takoma (6904 4th St NW, just outside of Takoma Park) on January 2nd.

The donut shop is open 7am-2pm daily, but frequently sells out of donuts soon after noon due to the popularity of the vegan baked goods. The donuts gained popularity in two years of pop-ups throughout the D.C. area prior to the shop opening.

Early this morning, they posted pictures of their shattered storefront window along with a message that Donut Run will be closed today while they clean up their shop.

Prior to the vandalism Donut Run displayed a Black Lives Matter banner in the window, which was also stolen overnight. “PS To whoever took our Black Lives Matter flag, please bring it back. We’ll gladly make you your own one.”
