5 MoCo Spots for a Taste of Fall

Looking for fresh apples, pumpkins, or other Fall produce? Check out our list of some local spots with fruits, veggies, and more fresh from the farm! Some places listed allow customers to pick-your-own, some have Fall activities, and some have marketplaces. 

Bella Vita Farm (Brookeville, MD)  https://bellavitafarm.com/


This local farm features  local produce, bocce, axe throwing, outdoor movies, and more. The farm also features “an expansive patio and tranquil gathering places such as our secret garden.” Guests are asked to follow distancing guidelines and wear masks in common areas. 

Butler’s Orchard (Germantown, MD)https://www.butlersorchard.com/


This orchard offers a range of Autumn activities from a pumpkin patch with pick your own pumpkins, to Pumpkin Harvest events with a corn maze, giant slides, farm animals, hayrides, and more. Reservations required for the pumpkin patch and Pumpkin Harvest events. The farm market, featuring Apple cider donuts, fall produce, and more is open.  Capacity is reduced and masks are required.

Kingsbury’s Orchard (Dickerson, MD) https://www.kingsburysorchard.com/ 

This family-owned orchard started out in 1907 as a peach farm, but now has a variety of produce available throughout the seasons. Pick your own fruit is not available for this season, but their website boasts red fuji apples and asian pears available for sale now. Visitors may walk around the scenic premises, but are expected to follow COVID safety protocols.

Lewis Orchard  (Dickerson MD). https://www.lewisorchardfarmmarket.com/

This farm market offers fresh produce, jams, jellies, fruit butters, cheeses, and more.  Their website states “we are now open for shopping inside the market, masks are required and we will provide gloves with one way shopping. We will still offer curbside and a walk-up window, but please call to order between 9am – 5pm for next day orders.”

Waters Orchard (Germantown, MD) http://www.watersorchard.com/ 

Currently closed for apple picking due to cold temperatures during the growing season. However, their cidery is open and features apple juices and hard ciders.  According to their website, “We have lots of open space for social distancing and have sanitation standards in place to keep our customers and staff healthy.”
