When residents across the county put in their orders for $5 gyros at Big Greek Cafe on Wednesday, July 14th, they saw that the price had increased to $6– the first time the price of the Wednesday gyro special had increased in over a decade.

“Since 2009 we’ve held onto that price of $5 gyro.  Unfortunately due to the rise in cost due to the current drastic increases, we can no longer sustain that price and we had to make the hard decision to raise the price by $1” Big Greek Cafe ownership told us.

The Olney Ale House is Re-opening

The Montgomery County Green Bank and Sandy Spring Bank announced Friday that they have teamed up to provide flexible financing to help the Olney Ale House re-open. A kitchen fire at the Olney Ale House caused the restaurant to temporarily shut down in 2019 and COVID-19 only compounded the issues for the restaurant.

Jeff Bezos Donates 100 Million to Bethesda-Based Chef José Andrés

Right after Jeff Bezos returned from his self-founded trip to outer space, he announced that he will be awarding the “Courage and Civility Award” to Bethesda-based Chef José Andrés. Andrés Was one of the two lucky recipients.

Common Plate Hospitality announced today that they will be opening their first food hall in Maryland with The Heights Food Hall at Wisconsin Place.  The new food hall will be opening in the space formerly occupied by Anthropologie and PF Chang’s on the 5400 block of Wisconsin Ave.

According to a press release, “The Heights’ contemporary design consolidates the bright open space with white walls, art murals, charming textiles, modern lighting, and greenscaping to create a vibrant culinary oasis. Some creative concepts to join the Heights include eight food stalls that will feature a variety of international cuisine, a full-service bar, a speakeasy and Urbano @ The Heights – a contemporary Tex-Mex concept from Common Plate Hospitality”.

Dunkin’ Donuts in White Oak to Give Away Free Coffee for a Year to 100 Customers Tomorrow

The new Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins Next Gen combo restaurant located at 11140 New Hampshire Ave, which opened several weeks ago, is having its “official” grand opening tomorrow, July 16.
