BREAKING Press Release: Council Meets as the Board of Health on Nov. 2 to Introduce, Hold a Public Hearing and Vote on Amended Board of Health Regulation on Indoor Masking Requirements; Public Hearing Scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

The Montgomery County Council will meet as the Board of Health on Tuesday, Nov. 2 to introduce, hold a public hearing and vote on an amended Board of Health regulation to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Montgomery County. The amended Board of Health regulation will be introduced at 9:40 a.m. and the public hearing and vote is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

The amended Board of Health regulation, sponsored by the Montgomery County Council, would require seven consecutive days of substantial COVID-19 transmission in the community for an indoor face covering requirement to be reinstated in areas open to the public. The requirement to wear face coverings in indoor spaces that are open to the public also terminates when the County returns to a status of moderate COVID-19 transmission for seven consecutive days.

MoCo in Moderate Transmission for 4 Consecutive Days, 7 Needed for Indoor Face Covering Requirement to End

Montgomery County is in moderate transmission for the fourth consecutive day. 7 consecutive days are required for indoor face covering requirement to end.

Per the Montgomery County government website, “Montgomery County’s indoor face covering requirement was reinstated because the County reached “substantial transmission” level. It will end when the County returns to a  “moderate transmission” status for 7 consecutive days. See the County’s COVID-19 data.”

MoCo Reaches Moderate Transmission for the First Time in Over 2 Months, Seven Consecutive Days Required for Indoor Face Covering Requirement to End

10/23 Update: Montgomery County is in moderate transmission for the third consecutive day.

Montgomery County has reached moderate transmission for Covid-19, per the indicator status on MoCo’s Covid-19 dashboard with 49.8 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 7 days.
