Montgomery County Police responded to the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue on Tuesday evening at approximately 7:48 p.m. for the report of a carjacking. According to MCPD, detectives determined that the victim had left the car running while exiting the car in the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue. At that time an unknown suspect entered the car. The victim reached inside the vehicle in an attempt to force the suspect to get out of the vehicle. The suspect then began to drive, dragging the victim, as her arm was still inside the vehicle.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are reporting that a suspect is in custody. We will post an update when additional information becomes available.

Montgomery County Rolls Out New Portal for Filing Complaints Against Police Officers

The newly formed Police Accountability Board (PAB) will oversee complaints filed against the Montgomery County Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, City of Gaithersburg Police Department, City of Takoma Park Police Department, City of Rockville Police Department, and Village of Chevy Chase Police Department and its officers.

Montgomery County’s PAB was established after the passage of the Maryland Police Accountability Act of 2021 (MD-HB 670.) It is a repeal and replacement of the Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights.

Update: Germantown Man Leads Police on Multi-State Pursuit, Identity of Suspect Released

On July 4, 2022, at approximately 9:20 a.m., 5th District patrol officers responded to the 11300 block of Hawks Ridge Terrace in Germantown, for the report of a male shooting a rifle at people. The suspect, Frederick Njihia, shot multiple times at a WSSC worker, striking his vehicle several times, as well as a male standing next to his truck.

A description of Njihia’s vehicle, a blue Honda Civic, was provided to officers. A short time later, a Montgomery County Officer, along with a police officer candidate riding in the vehicle, were traveling on Germantown Rd. towards Frederick Rd., when they observed the suspect vehicle.

Clarissa Marie Del Rosario was last seen on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at approximately 10 a.m., leaving the 3100 block of Hewitt Avenue.

Gehrehiwot is 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a long dress and a head scarf.

Montgomery County Police Looking for Man Missing From Rockville

24-year-old Karl Fong Treichel, was last seen at approximately 11 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, in the area of 9901 Medical Center Drive, in Rockville.

Treichel is 5-feet, 9-inches tall, with medium length black hair, and medium build.

Three Juveniles Arrested for Attempted Murder of a Police Officer

As the result of a recent residential burglary trend, the Montgomery County Police – 2nd District Investigative Section was conducting follow-up investigations when they obtained footage from a June 21, 2022, burglary that occurred in the 5300 block of Brookeway Drive. The surveillance footage indicated four unknown suspects entered the residence and stole a GMC Yukon SUV, which was subsequently recovered in the area the next day.

On Thursday, June 30, 2022, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers from the Montgomery County 2^nd District Special Assignment Team responded to the 6000 block of Johnson Avenue for the report of an attempted burglary in progress. Officers from the 2^nd District – Special Assignment Team observed a BMW SUV, matching a previous burglary suspect vehicle form June 21, 2022, leaving the area and initiated surveillance.

Detectives Investigate Multiple Thefts from Office Suites in Bethesda; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who committed multiple thefts in Bethesda. Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Patrol Investigations Unit have released surveillance video of the suspect.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the suspect entered an office suite in the 4300 block of East West Highway. The investigation by detectives determined that the suspect stole a victim’s credit cards and used them at an Apple store and Safeway.
