Working Conditions
• Ability to be on your feet hours at a time, bending, shifting, reaching, going up/down staircases, lifting boxes of up to 25 lbs.
• Must be able to work in a variety of climate conditions and temperatures: rain and snow, hot and cold.
• Move Managers are dispatched from their homes in all weather conditions to client’s homes and residential communities in the greater Baltimore-DC Metropolitan areas.
• Punctuality is paramount – must plan for traffic and weather conditions to be on time.

Maintain routine shelter schedule during each shift
Keep informed by reading online log notes, alert pages, and emails
Serve as gatekeeper to shelter, permitting entry only to approved guests and volunteers
Assist with intakes, as needed
Provide new guests with a tour of the facility
Ensure each shelter guest is provided with breakfast and lunch
Accept dinner donations and properly store or begin heating for dinner, when appropriate
Ensure each client is provided a cot, bed and bath linens, locker, and the opportunity to sign up to do personal
laundry.
Maximize contact with clients by being physically visible to all guests throughout the day
Establish and maintain positive professional rapport with guests at all times
Plan and supervise activities for guests during the day
Proactively manage potential and actual conflicts among guests and call resources such as 911 or the
Montgomery County Crisis Center, as needed to ensure the safety of all persons in the shelter
Encourage and facilitate each client to access case management
Maintain confidentiality of guests at all times in and outside of work environment
Keep accurate records in logbook, intake paperwork, assignments of cots, cubbies and lockers, and other
operational systems
Check and respond to email daily
Ensure the safety of the shelter by keeping doors locked and monitoring guests in the facility
Maintain log of guests when they leave and return to the shelter
Provide brief orientation of facility and responsibilities to all arriving volunteers
