Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 35 (Montgomery County Police Union) Files Lawsuit Against Montgomery County Council Over “Use of Force” Bill

Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 35, the union that represents Montgomery County police officers, is suing the Montgomery County Council over Bill 27-20E-Police-Regulations-Use of Force Policy that they say violates the County Charter’s Collective Bargaining obligations.

Per MCPD:Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the May 7, 2020, homicide of 19-year-old Robert George Dockery (pictured below) that occurred in the Aspen Hill area. Investigators have exhausted possible leads and are urging anyone with information regarding this homicide to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070 or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online or via the P3 Tips app. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the homicide suspect(s).

Update from Montgomery County Police: 911 received call for an attempted armed robbery w/knife of person at approx. 4:56 am. Suspect attempted to hide in retention pond by mall. Suspect in custody. No injuries to victim.

From January 1, 2021, to April 30, 2021, there have been over 90 airbag thefts reported countywide.  During the same time period in 2020, there were approximately 18 airbag thefts reported countywide.  The majority of airbag thefts are occurring in the 2nd (Bethesda) and 3rd (Silver Spring) Districts.
