Apna Pizza at 14050 Travilah Rd in Rockville (Travilah area), the former site of Pizza Palace, has announced that due to an electrical issue the restaurant’s opening has been delayed. The new pizzeria recently wrapped up construction and a countdown on the restaurant website said that the restaurant would be opening later this week.  The new opening date is now to be determined.

Apna will serve Indian style pizza, and say they will be the first in the area to offer that style. The menu will include items such as tandoori chicken pizza, butter chicken fusion pizza, masala paneer pizza, impossible korma pizza (vegetarian) or a build your own with toppings of your choice and Indian flavor and spices. In addition to pizza, they will serve sides of loaded fries, which they described as “poutine but with an edge”, and wings.


Gaithersburg

After the COVID-19 pandemic caused cancellations in 2020 and 2021, Independence Day fireworks and celebrations are back in a big way this year. Below is a list of all the MoCo fireworks displays that have been announced:

Restaurants

Lil’ Cakes & Creamery will be opening a new location at 844 Rockville Pike, the former site of Sam’s Cafe & Market, also known as Sam’s Hookah.  Sam’s closed permanently at the end of March.  Lil’ Cakes expects the new location to open in about 3-4 months.

Lil’ Cakes & Creamery offers a rotating selection of cupcakes and ice cream, as well as macarons, pupcakes, cookies, cookie sandwiches, pushpops, and milkshakes.


Rockville

Upon arrival officers discovered a 53 year-old female victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim advised officers that while inside her residence, she was shot by a family member, later identified as Ricardo Ephrian Malcolm.  Officers made contact with the suspect who exited the residence without incident and was taken into custody.

The victim was transported to a local trauma center with non-life threatening injuries and is listed in stable condition.


Rockville

Emilio Andres Rizo, 18, of Rockville, was arrested on Thursday morning and charged with kidnapping after an incident that occurred Tuesday, June 7, in the 3100 block of M Street in Northwest DC. According to DC police, “This morning, an observant 2D officer spotted the suspect connected to an Attempted Kidnapping case that occurred two days ago. The officer then took him into custody as he stepped off of a Metro bus.”

Per the Metropolitan Police Department: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Attempted Kidnapping offense that occurred on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in the 3100 block of M Street, Northwest.


MoCo Government

The Executive Office Building is located at 101 Monroe Street in Rockville. The job fair will be held on the lobby level.

At the job fair, attendees will meet knowledgeable staff who will answer questions, discuss CDL permit and license requirements and provide assistance in applying for available positions.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at approximately 6:20 a.m., Jasaira Anahy Ochoa Barrera, age 15, left her residence in the 11500 block of Patapsco Dr. in Rockville.

Jasaira is 5-feet tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.
