SOKO, a neighborhood butchery, has officially opened at 7306 Carroll Ave in Takoma Park.

Owned and operated by partners Brad Feickert & Chris Brown, SOKO focuses on local & sustainable farms that raise animals ethically and humanly. The neighborhood butchery offers a menu that consists of breakfast and lunch. Breakfast offerings include sandwiches, breakfast burritos, bagels, bacon, and sausage. Lunch offerings include a variety of deli sandwiches with sides of fries or chips. They are open every day from 7:30am-8pm and both menus are available all day.

Per SOKO, Brad Feickert will be the General Manager and lead butcher at the shop. Born and raised in Purceville, Virginia, Brad began his culinary career at the early age of 16. Mid way through college he knew he had a passion for cooking and wanted to dive deeper into the culinary arts. After graduation he decided to attend Sea Islands apprenticeship program down in Georgia. After a year of working in the majority of Sea Islands restaurants including the highly acclaimed “Georgian Room”, he knew he wanted to explore the history and techniques of cooking. With that in mind he took his career to the next level by attending the ICC in Campbell, CA. While attending the ICC he worked at a dedicated farm to table restaurant called the Haymarket as the sous chef. Upon graduation from the ICC he decided to take his career back to the east coast and work for Bryan Voltaggio in his fine dining restaurant VOLT. Following his stint at VOLT he traveled to Australia to expand his culinary knowledge. Brad worked at esteemed restaurants such as Attica and Brae. After a year abroad he returned to Northern Va and took over the newly founded Oz in Arlington, Va. After 4 years he was introduced to his partner Chris Brown and they decided to partner up to start SOKO.

Chris Brown will be the assistant manager. Chris has spent 12 years working in restaurants and retail and is currently the General Manager and Co-Owner of Takoma Beverage Company in Takoma Park. Chris has also recently started his new restaurant in Silver Spring.

We focus on local & sustainable farms that raise animals ethically and humanly. Also, SOKO focuses on preparing traditional and classic deli sandwiches from around the states. Brad & Chris started the business to keep old traditions alive as well as inform the consumer on where their meats come from. SOKO will also carry in house charcuterie, bone broths, take away meals, and everything and anything pickled.
