Fatal Collision Shuts Down Connecticut Avenue, Investigation Underway

In the early hours of the morning, a fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Adams Drive in Kensington.

At approximately 4am, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief spokesperson Pete Piringer reported a collision involving a single vehicle at the location. The crash resulted in a person being trapped inside the vehicle, requiring rescue personnel to extricate the individual. The collision also caused traumatic injuries to the victim and damage to a nearby pole and sign. Some lanes were initially blocked due to the incident.

Shortly thereafter, at 4:37am, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) issued a traffic advisory noting that southbound Connecticut Avenue had been shut down between Denfeld Avenue and Adams Drive. Fire and Rescue teams were on the scene, attending to one person with serious injuries. Authorities advised drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid the area.

At 6:13, MCPD provided a grave update: the collision had resulted in a fatality. The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was notified, and officials warned of a prolonged road closure as investigations into the incident commenced. Motorists are urged to remain cautious and consider alternative routes as Connecticut Avenue remains closed for the ongoing investigation.
