This week we will feature a simple honey dish that comes courtesy of the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association, as well as a guest submission from the City of Gaithersburg Casey Community Center!
Feta Spread with Honey
INGREDIENTS:
8 ounces feta cheese
3 ounces cream cheese
Honey
Pita Bread
Apples
DIRECTIONS:
In a food processor, cream the feta cheese and cream cheese unit it is very smooth. Put this mixture in the center of a pretty serving dish. Make a well in the cheese mixture and pour the honey into it – use plenty. Cut pitas into triangles and place all around the cheese and honey mixture. Apples are also a nice complement to this spread.

This dip is very simple and inexpensive to make. The honey I purchased at the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market in Gaithersburg (Kentlands), and everything else was purchased at Aldi for around $5 in total. If you don’t have a food processor, a blender would also work as long as you let the cream cheese soften a little. Total prep time was ten minutes. The fresh honey definitely takes it up a notch and warming the pita bread is a must.
