Half of MoCo residents have now taken a Covid test

According to the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), about 522 thousand MoCo residents have taken at least one Covid test, accounting for 50.2 percent of the county’s population. MoCo has conducted more than one million total tests.

Statewide, MoCo ranks sixth in the percentage of population tested behind Allegany, Kent, Dorchester, and Frederick counties and Baltimore City.

Over the past week, MoCo has averaged 38.1 new cases per 100 thousand residents; according to the county, this shows a “very high risk of transmission.” 80.2 percent of hospital in-patient beds are occupied, showing a “moderate risk of transmission.”
