Montgomery County Police Investigating Rockville Homicide

For Immediate Release: Thursday, November 4, 2021

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged a Rockville man with first-degree murder.

On November 3, 2021, at approximately 11 p.m., 4th District officers responded to a home in the 13300 block of Turkey Branch Parkway in Rockville, after the caller stated to ECC that he had discovered his friend dead on the bathroom floor.

The victim, 33-year-old Brandon Sutherland, was found with an apparent stab wound to his torso and was pronounced dead on scene. The Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section was notified and a search warrant for the residence was obtained.

The caller, 36-year-old Jonathan Mohelski, was transported to Major Crimes, where he was interviewed by detectives, and ultimately admitted to stabbing Sutherland.

Mohelski was transported to the Central Processing Unit (CPU), where he is being held without bond.

The investigation into the death of Sutherland is ongoing.
