Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred today, January 17, 2022 at the intersection of Veirs Mill Rd. and Ferrara Ave. in Wheaton.
At approximately 6:22 p.m., an adult female was struck by a silver or light blue 2012-2015 Volkswagen Passat while she was crossing Veirs Mill Rd. at Ferrara Ave. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without rendering aid to the pedestrian who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The striking vehicle has possible damage to the front bumper, grille, side mirror, or windshield.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this collision. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the police at 301-279-8000 or the CRU detectives at 240-773-6620.
