‘Runaway Tire’ Strikes Minivan Traveling in Opposite Direction On Beltway Thursday Afternoon

A tire came loose from a moving truck on Thursday afternoon at approximately 1pm, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services PIO, Pete Piringer The tire bounced across several lanes of traffic on the beltway and struck a minivan traveling in the opposite direction, demolishing the windshield and roof of the vehicle.

MFCRS units were quickly on the scene in the area of the I-495 beltway ramp at Cabin John Parkway where they evaluated and transported two adults to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
