Three adults and six children (originally reported as five adults and four children) have been displaced after a house fire on Bramble Bush Ct. in Gaithersburg on Friday evening around 6pm.
The cause of the fire, which is currently under investigation, was likely a faulty garage door opener, according to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer.
Occupants of the house smelled and saw smoke, the children alerted their parents, and everyone evacuated.
The bulk of the fire occurred in the garage, which then spread to the single family home. Damages are estimated to be around $175,000.
No injuries were reported and one infant was evaluated due to exposure to smoke.
Goshen Rd was closed at Stewart Town for several hours but has since reopened.
