A person of interest has been detained after allegedly setting a small fire during a domestic dispute on the 1200 block of East West Highway in Silver Spring.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue PIO Pete Piringer, units were dispatched to the Silverton condominiums in Silver Spring last night after reports of a fire on the fourth floor and the activation of the fire alarm.
The fire was quickly put out in two separate rooms of the condominium and a person of interest was detained after a police was also dispatched to the same place for a domestic dispute.
According to Piringer, one adult set a small fire and a roommate used a dry chemical extinguisher to put it out. A woman was placed in police custody.
The fire originated in the kitchen, where plastic materials were set on fire. There were no injuries and approximately $500 in damages.
