Come Across Newborn Wildlife in the Area? Here’s What To Do

Many wildlife species in our area are now are giving birth and raising young. Some species, such as white-tailed deer and eastern cottontails, leave their young alone to avoid attracting predators and return occasionally to care for them.

Per Montgomery Parks:

These young animals often are mistaken as abandoned because adults are not seen with them. Please keep this in mind before trying to “rescue” young wildlife that may not need to be rescued at all. Well-intentioned “rescue efforts” often result in more harm than good.
If you observe an animal that you think needs help, and/or is physically injured or sick, please contact a wildlife rehabilitation center first to seek guidance.
