Two MoCo Restaurants Top Eater’s ’15 Hottest New Restaurants Around D.C.’ List (May Edition)

Two Montgomery County restaurants (the only ones on the list) took the #1 and #2 spots in the latest Eater DC list, for the second month in a row. The “15 Hottest New Restaurants Around D.C.” points diners toward the 15 most intriguing or otherwise buzzworthy new restaurants in the D.C. area. Last month two Montgomery County restaurants topped the list, EKO House (Rockville) and Planta (Bethesda). This month, EKO House remains ranked #1 on the list and Hello Betty (Pike & Rose) joins the list at #2. Below you’ll see the description for each:

EKO House (150 Gibbs St Rockville)

“Rockville Town Square’s massive pan-African restaurant from Yomi Ajao and Francis Odiase transports diners to Nigeria’s vibrant and largest city of Lagos. Now open for lunch, dinner, brunch, and late-night service, the 250-seat spot is drawing notice for its roasted goat, pepper soup, beef, chicken, and seafood suya, and generous slices of layered banana and chocolate cake.”

Hello Betty ( 940 Rose Ave North Bethesda)

“Pretend you’re at a surfside crab boil (instead of in North Bethesda) at Hello Betty, which serves seafood feasts like blue crabs tossed in Old Bay vinegar with potatoes and corn on the cob. The restaurant at the Canopy by Hilton in the Pike & Rose development is modeled after the original Hello Betty located in Oceanside, California. That translates to Baja-esque decor at this new location, with some East Coast touches too, like Natty Boh served on ice in Igloo coolers and a fried chicken sandwich slathered in mumbo sauce.”
