MoCoShow High School Football Top 10 – Week 1

1. Quince Orchard 1-0 (LW 1)

The Cougars took care of business, shutting out Whitman 61-0. Iverson Howard scored 4 touchdowns. Tavahri Groves had 2 touchdown catches. Up next a trip to Burtonsville to take on Paint Branch

2. Paint Branch 1-0 (LW 3)

The Panthers handled Einstein 36-0. Mason Flowers rushed for 129 yards and 1TD.  They will host Quince Orchard this Friday in a key early season matchup.

3.  Seneca Valley 1-0 (LW 4)

The Screamin’ Eagles blanked Clarksburg 61-0.  QB Elijah Frazier went 9 out of 14 for 160 yards and 3TDs. Jorden Hungerford rushed for 95 yds and 3TDs.  They will host Gaithersburg this week in a classic MCPS matchup.

4. Damascus 1-0 (LW 5)

The Swarmin’ Hornets reminded the County who they were with a 33-28 victory over Northwest. Dillon Dunathan ran for 177 yds and 2TDs. Michael Cooley also ran for 95 yds and a TD.  Damascus will travel to Magruder this Friday.

5. Northwest 0-1 (LW 2)

The Jaguars fell short in the instant classic vs Damascus 28-33. Antonio Berry had TD reception, and a punt return for a TD. Marcus Middleton also had 2 TD receptions.  Northwest will host Clarksburg next.

6. Blair 1-0 (LW 6)

The Blazers overcame a slow start to pull away from Magruder 28-14.  They will Host Einstein this Friday in a DCC matchup.

7. Walter Johnson 1-0 (LW 7)

The Wildcats beat rival Churchill in the 1st leg of the Congressional Cup 21-9. QB Charlie Blessing went 10 out 12 for 135 yards passing and 100 rushing yards adding 2TDs. Walter Johnson will host Whitman next.

8. Sherwood 1-0 (LW 9)

The Warriors dispatched Wheaton 36-0. QB Amari Allen completed 10 passes for 140 yards and two scores. A huge out of county matchup is on tap, as Urbana travels to Olney.

9. Blake 1-0 (LW NR)

The Bengals enter the top 10 on the strength of a 58-13 win over Northwood.  QB Kirby Matson was 8 out of 12 for 241 yds and 6 TDs. Blake will travel to Potomac to take on Churchill this Friday.

10.  Churchill 0-1 (LW 8)

The Bulldogs fell to Walter Johnson 9-21. Zeke Avit had a standout game in the loss.  Churchill will host Blake next..
