Update: One Person Dead After Collision Involving Motorcycle and SUV in Chevy Chase

One person has died as the result of a collision this morning in Chevy Chase. According to Montgomery County Police, “On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at approximately 7:08 a.m., 2nd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Wisconsin Avenue and Chestnut Street for the report of a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

The man operating the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.  The woman driving the SUV was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  This is an active and ongoing investigation. A formal news release will be distributed as more information becomes available. The decedent’s name will be released following proper notification of next of kin.”

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) we’re called to the scene of a traumatic injury due to a collision involving a motorcycle a little after 7am Wednesday morning, according to MCFRS Chief Spokeperson Pete Piringer.
The collision occurred in the northbound lanes of Wisconsin Avenue and Chestnut Street in Chevy Chase. Northbound Wisconsin Ave has been shut down as emergency medical services continue to evaluate a traumatic injury. Montgomery County Police has issued the following traffic advisory: Northbound Wisconsin Ave at Chestnut is shut down following a traffic collision. Drivers should expect significant delays and seek alternate routes.
