Many ‘Halloween Happenings’ Will Take Place in the Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District

Per Montgomery County:
The Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District will have numerous light-hearted, family friendly ‘Halloween Happenings’ that will be a treat for all ages. Reservations or tickets are required for many of these events. More than 100 arts and humanities organizations, popular arts venues, attractions and entertainment businesses compose the Arts and Entertainment District.

The list of Halloween Happenings will include:

  • Halloween Arts Spooktacular at Create Arts Center. Saturday, Oct. 22. Timed family tickets are available on-line for a haunted art studio and blacklight art project, pumpkin painting, face painting and ghoulish games.
  • Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror debuts as a part of the Silent Cinema Showcase. Friday, Oct. 28. The film will be accompanied by live music from Anvil Orchestra, Not So Silent Cinema and Silent Orchestra in celebration of the film’s 100th anniversary.
  • Zombie Walk. Saturday, Oct. 29. Will begin at Denizen’s Brewing Company at 6 p.m. with a DJ, costume contest and a 9 p.m. Zombie Walk proceeding north on Georgia Avenue.
  • Downtown Silver Spring will host a Zombie Walk Dance Party. Saturday, Oct. 29. 8-10 p.m. with a DJ spinning tunes.
  • The AFI Silver Theatre will host Count Gore de Vol presents A Nightmare on Elm Street and a live shadowcast by Bloody Mahem Theatrical of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on the evening of the Zombie Walk. Saturday Oct. 29.
  • Halloween on Screen continues at the AFI Silver from Oct. 28-Nov. 3 with a mix of family favorites like Hocus Pocus and Ghostbusters to true scary stuff like Suspiria and The Beyond.
  • Silver Spring Holiday Crafts & Treats. Sunday, Oct. 30. On Veterans Plaza with a kids and pets holiday parade with art and sweets for sale.
  • The Deadmen and Dragons Tour by Trivium. Sunday, Oct. 30. Rock at The Fillmore Silver Spring.
  • In Clown at the Big Escape Room Silver Spring. Those who dare could be trapped in an abandoned circus by Boris, a crazed serial killer clown. The good news is that Boris is in a playful mood and he is giving you a chance to escape. Escape opportunities are on-going.

Many of the bars and restaurants are also offering themed parties, drinks and treats over the weekend of Oct. 28-30 will include the Nightmare on Georgia Avenue at I/O Spaces and the Caribbean Halloween Party at Fire Station 1.

Designated as an Arts and Entertainment District by the State of Maryland in 2001, the Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District is a hub of performance venues, restaurants and nightlife, festivals and community celebrations and family friendly fun.
