1. Fentanyl Awareness: Family Forum Set for Jan. 28: In partnership with MCPS, Montgomery Goes Purple invites families to come out Saturday, Jan. 28 for an event and discussion on this deadly drug. Panelists will share important information on the dangers and prevalence of fentanyl, prevention tools and protective factors for students, and resources for treatment when needed. The event will be from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. in the Clarksburg High School cafeteria, 22500 Wims Road in Clarksburg. The event will also be livestreamed on the MCPS homepage.

Free SAT Prep for High School Students Available Now

2. Free SAT Prep for High School Students Available Now

MCPS is pleased to partner with FEV Tutor to provide students high-quality virtual tutoring sessions personalized to each student’s needs. High school students can sign up for a free six-week course between now and March. Email FEV Tutor or call 855-763-2607 with questions.

Sessions are available:  Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–10 p.m., Saturdays, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m.–10 p.m.

The Latino Student Achievement Action Group (LSAAG), in partnership with PODER Educators and the MCPS Office of Strategic Initiatives, will hold virtual meetings on Jan. 23 to share information and listen to feedback from Hispanic/Latino students and families about the MCPS Antiracist System Audit Report. Students will meet from 5:30-6:45 p.m. A parent meeting will be held in Spanish from 7-8:15 pm. Students and parents can register here.
