MCFRS Respond to Apartment Fire Early Friday Morning

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire at the Elizabeth House apartment building at 1400 Fenwick Lane in Silver Spring on Friday morning around 2:45am. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, a maintenance worker located the fire on the 4th floor of the building and the fire was contained by the building’s sprinkler system.

One occupant was rescued and transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. Damage is estimated to be ~$80k, including water damage on 2-4 floors. Approximately 15 residents have been displaced. The cause of the fire was an electrical cord connected to a space heater.
