Altercation on Metrobus Leads to Fatal Stabbing Wednesday Afternoon

Update: This incident is now being investigated as a homicide.
Montgomery County Police responded to Amherst Ave, just South of University Blvd West in Wheaton for the report of a stabbing on Wednesday, April 5 around 12:30pm. According to MCPD, “
two adult males were arguing on a Metro bus. They both got off the bus near University Blvd West and Amherst Ave. The male suspect stabbed the victim and ran away. The victim has been transported to an area hospital in critical condition.”

Amherst Ave is shut down from University Blvd West to Reedie Dr. due to the investigation. Drivers should seek an alternate route.  Public safety reporter Cordell Pugh reports that an Off-Duty Montgomery County Police Officer aided the victim prior to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services arrival. Montgomery County Police, Metro Transit Police, and Montgomery County Park Police are all assisting. We will post an update when additional information is available.
