Police Investigating Assault and Attempted Robbery

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.  At approximately 1 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 8500 block of Colesville Road for the report of an attempted strong-arm robbery that just occurred.

The initial investigation has revealed that the victim was walking north in the 8500 block of Colesville Road when two unknown female suspects approached her from behind. One of the suspects grabbed the victim’s hair, pulled her down to the ground and began striking the victim in the upper body and head, while the second suspect attempted to take the victim’s jacket.  Unable to remove the victim’s jacket, the suspects verbally threatened the victim and then fled the area on foot.

The suspects are described as two Black females with medium skin tones. The first suspect is described as heavy set, wearing a blue jean jacket, black pants and a bonnet on her head. The second suspect is described as slender with braces on her teeth, wearing a white long sleeve shirt, black pants, black and white sneakers and a bonnet on her head.

Anyone with information regarding this suspect or this crime, is asked to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Callers may remain anonymous.
