Stone Mill Elementary School Named National Blue Ribbon School

Stone Mill Elementary School has been selected as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Stone Mill is the 43rd MCPS school to win this honor. The school was among 313 public and 40 private schools being recognized this year. It is one of six schools in Maryland to win the honor. Read more.


Register and Verify Your ParentVue Information

The Annual Verification process allows for families to update contact information, collect important information about parent(s)/guardian(s) and the student. This includes any medical, immunization, language preferences, and emergency information that school staff need to know. MCPS uses ParentVUE to collect this information electronically. Online registration is available now until Oct. 20th.

National Hispanic College Fair Set for Oct. 13; Financial Aid Sessions Oct. 11 and 12

The National Hispanic College Fair will be held on Friday, Oct. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bohrer Park Community Center in Gaithersburg. Sponsored by the National Hispanic College Fair and MCPS, the fair will feature more than 50 colleges, universities and service organizations.

 MCPS students must register to attend. Registration is open until Wed. Oct. 11; permission forms are available from their school’s College and Career Information Coordinator.

There will also be free sessions open to the public on Financial Aid: Completing the FAFSA and MSFAA in Spanish and English.

  • Monday, Oct. 11 at Seneca Valley High School from 6-8 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Montgomery Blair High School from 6-8 p.m.

Summer SSL Hours Due by Sept. 29

Student Service Learning (SSL) hours earned over the summer should be turned in to the school SSL coordinator by Friday, Sept. 29. All SSL forms completed during the summer and the 2023-2024 school year should be turned into the school’s SSL coordinator no later than the required deadline of May 31, 2024.

All MCPS students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate. Middle school and high school students can find a variety of opportunities that follow the SSL guidelines on the MCPS SSL webpage.

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Throughout the month, MCPS schools will be celebrating the unique culture and traditions of students, teachers, staff and community members who trace their roots to hispanic heritage.

Actor and Montgomery Blair High School alumna Lisa Ann Walter stopped by her alma mater to speak to current students and staff. Walter spoke about her time at Blair and how much being a product of MCPS meant to her life and career.


Volunteers Help Beautify Outdoor Spaces at Community Schools: Habitat for Humanity will be working with MCPS community schools to help with beautification and the development of gardens and outdoor spaces. This week volunteers came out for the first school clean up at Georgian Forest Elementary School.
