“More snow this winter than any other season over the last 5 years”; ABC 7 Releases 2023-2024 Winter Outlook

The First Weather Alert Team at ABC 7 has released its 2023-2024 Winter Weather forecast, and as just about every other winter outlook so far, they’re predicting higher than average snow for the region. Let’s recap the outlook below:

More snow this winter than any other season over the last 5 years.” That quote is similar to what was in the Capital Weather Gang Winter Outlook and the amounts projected for the area vary from 17-22 inches from Gaithersburg and areas south in Montgomery County, all of DC, Fairfax County, half of Howard County, and Prince George’s County, to 22-30 inches for areas north of Gaithersburg in Montgomery County, Loudoun County, Frederick County, and half of Howard County. The snow totals align closely to what FOX 5 has in their outlook, but less than what NBC 4 has in theirs.

ABC 7 is going with an overall warmer than normal winter with cold air outbreaks likely in January and February. They’ve also gone with one of the most detailed predictions within the outlook, going with 1 inch of snow in December, 2-4 inches in January, 12-15 inches in February, and 2-3 inches in March.
