The Golden Bachelorette has yet to be announced by ABC, but a lot of fans have speculated that it would make a lot of sense after the success of ABC’s Golden Bachelor series. Rockville, MD’s very own Joan Vassos stole bachelor Gerry’s heart during her short time on the show that ended when she made the decision to return home and be with her daughter, who was having a tough time following a difficult pregnancy.
After winning an early episode’s talent show with a touching poem, and a one-on-one date with Gerry (the Golden Bachelor), she became a frontrunner in the competition that involves women 60 years young and up vying for Gerry’s affection. Sadly, that’s when she had to make the difficult decision to return home, but many feel that Joan would be the perfect Golden Bachelorette.
Would Joan be interested giving television another shot at finding love? “I would be open to it,” Joan, 60, said recently to E! News. “I believe in the process. Oddly, I kind of came into this as a little bit skeptical and I see how it worked. It’s like speed dating on steroids. And people find love on the show and I want to find love still.”
While fans have clamored for other contestants to return as ABC’s first Golden Bachelorette, it’s Vassos’ early departure that left many wondering what could have been. “She had that competition wrapped up so early, I was so sad to see her go” commented a reader seconds after she announced she’d be returning home last month.
