Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a collision involving a Metro Bus at the intersection of Layhill Rd. and Bel Pre Rd. shortly before 8pm on Sunday night.
In an update provided by MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer at 8:40 pm, units were dispatched for a Metro Bus crashing into a vehicle with one person trapped inside of the vehicle. The person trapped inside the vehicle was extricated.
Six people were transported to the hospital- three from from the Metro Bus, who all suffered non-life threatening injuries, and three patients from the vehicle. Two of the patients in the vehicle suffered priority 2 trauma (serious, urgent injuries) and one person in the vehicle suffered priority 3 trauma (non-urgent injury).
The intersection was temporarily closed, followed by a closure on the westbound lanes of Bel Pre Rd. At Layhill Rd. As of 9pm, there are residual delays with some lanes still blocked.
