
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a fire on the 2800 block of Kingswell Drive, off of Judson Rd. in Wheaton-Glenmont on Thursday night at approximately 10pm.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, approximately 50 firefighters responded to the fire that involved the sunroom and first floor of the single family home. All occupants were able to remove themselves from the home prior to the arrival of the fire department.
Damage is estimated to be over $200,000 and there were no injuries reported. A person of interest was detained, questioned, and taken to a hospital by police, but no arrest has been made at this time. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. 17 people have been displaced, including five kids. Two cats were also displaced.
