Emergency Personnel Respond to Over 20 Crashes Monday Morning

The winter weather has caused slush to accumulate with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) warning of wet and slick spots on the road even into the late morning hours.

Per MCFRS Chief Spokesperson, “USE CAUTION on ALL Roads, especially elevated surfaces ie bridges, overpasses, parking lots, ramps, sidewalks (untreated/refrozen surfaces)…..Take Precautions – SLOW DOWN & increase stopping distance.” Crashes reported by MCFRS include:

4:59am: SB I270 between Rt 121 and Rt 27, collision, single vehicle

5:00am: Great Seneca Highway and Longdraft Road, collision, single vehicle

MCFRS PIO at 5:07am: NOTE: there have been several collisions (4 or 5) since midnite overnight on Beltway between University Blvd & Connecticut Av/Rt355 – plan accordingly & motorists should slow down – wet & slick roads

5:20am: NB I270 between I370 & Muddy Branch Rd, collision

5:26am: Inner Loop I495 Beltway between Georgia Av & Colesville Rd IAO Colesville Rd, collision, involves Sedan & Tractor trailer, @MCFRS_EMIHS evaluating 3 patients, 2 currently trapped, ~30 @mcfrs FFs on scene, some lanes blocked (air temp 35°, feel-like 27°, wind 10mph, gust 26mph)

6:32am: IAO Ridge Road and Observation Dr., Germantown, collision, @mcfrs PE734, A734, T734, RS729 responding

6:37am: Route 29 Columbia Pike, near Cherry Hill Rd., collision

6:37am: MB I270 between Rt28 and Shady Grove Road, collision

7:28am: Traffic incident closes 3 left lanes of NB I-270 after Falls Rd. (MD 189) Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.

7:55am: Norbeck Rd & Whitehaven Dr, collision w/entrapment, involves several vehicles

8:53am: MCFRS is responding to a collison involving 10 cars on N270 between Shady Grove Rd and I370 with vehicles on both sides of the Express Lanes affected. Units from Rockville, Gaithersburg and MSP blocking traffic in the express lanes. Expect delays.

8:56am: New Hampshire Ave. and Fox St., Adelphi, collision, involves a school bus

9:33am: Jaystone Ct, off Jaystone Dr, near Bonifant Rd, Stonegate, injured person, tree fell on worker, co-workers & others removed tree prior to @mcfrs arrival

9:36am: MCFRS units are responding to S270 @ weigh station(Clarksburg) for a collison.

9:36am: SB I270 between Rt109 & Rt121, collision

9:39am: On Airpark Rd IAO Muncaster Mill Rd, collision, vehicle into a utility pole

9:40am: E. Jefferson St., and Josiah Henson Parkway/Executive Boulevard, collision, vehicle into a tree

9:41am: New Hampshire Ave. and Quaint Acres Drive, White Oak, collision

9:47am: SB I270 between Montgomery Village Avenue and I 370, collision

9:48am: IAO Cedar Creek Park, Germantown, Richter Farm Road near Cricket Hill Drive, collision

10:05am: Vehicle fire on Darnestown Rd near Muddy Branch Rd.
