Maryland Seal of Biliteracy Award Testing Dates Now Available


Qualifying High School students are encouraged to sign up for testing for the prestigous Maryland Seal of Biliteracy  at various high schools.

Juniors and seniors who are native/heritage speakers of languages other than English, currently enrolled in upper-level world languages classes, and/or attending outside language schools are encouraged to register for testing or to contact their school’s World Languages Resource Teachers to inquire about the Seal of Biliteracy.

The Maryland Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by participating school systems that recognizes a student’s high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English and one or more languages.

As of Dec. 13, 1,486 juniors and seniors have tested and 1,098 have met the language other than English benchmark.

Jan. 3, 2024:  Northwest

Jan. 5, 2024:  Richard Montgomery

Jan. 9, 2024:  Montgomery Blair, Col. Zadok Magruder, Poolesville, and Walt Whitman

Jan. 10, 2024:  Albert Einstein and Gaithersburg

Jan. 11, 2024:  John F. Kennedy and Northwood

Jan. 16, 2024:  Paint Branch and the Montgomery Virtual Academy

Jan. 18, 2024: Bethesda-Chevy Chase

Jan. 19, 2024:  Quince Orchard

Jan. 22, 2024:  Springbrook

Jan. 23, 2024:  Winston Churchill and Thomas S. Wootton

Jan. 24, 2024:   James H. Blake, Walter Johnson, and Watkins Mill

Jan. 31, 2024:  Sherwood

Testing dates have not been released yet for Clarksburg, Damascus, Seneca Valley and Wheaton High Schools.
