The National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center (@NWSWPC), based out of College Park, MD, has increased confidence in a storm that could bring impactful winter weather to the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Northeast.

At 5:36pm, @NWSWPC posted “Confidence is increasing for a storm system this weekend to bring impactful winter weather to portions of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. While it is too early to talk specifics with the forecast, at least moderate winter storm impacts look increasingly likely by late Saturday.”

Earlier today we shared that the early Tuesday weather model runs have showed a decreased probability in major snowfall for the DC Metro area for this weekend’s storm, but we are still about four days away from this happening with a lot that could change (that update can be seen here). The latest GFS run has been more encouraging for snow lovers, so everything remains on the table. We’ll keep you updated as we get closer.
