Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to an automatic fire alarm that went off at a home in the 11500 block of Highview Ave in Kensington at approximately 2:45pm on Friday afternoon.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, responding crews encountered smoke coming from the roof and doors upon arrival. Firefighters located and rescued a woman who was unconscious inside the home. She was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The fire was extinguished and three pets (one dog and two cats) were assisted out of the home.
