Drone Battery Causes Small Fire in Fallsgrove Apartment

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a small fire involving a lithium battery at an apartment on 700 Fallsgrove Dr. in Rockville.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, units were dispatched for “fire out” (a fire that was already extinguished) and arrived to find smoke coming from an overheated/burned lithium drone battery.

The MCFRS HazMat crew secured the scene and assisted in removing the battery. One occupant of the apartment chose not to evacuate and declined treatment/transport.
