The 2002 Disappearance of Ganignunt “Felicia” Aiemsakul Remains A Mystery

This month marks 22 years since Ganignunt “Felicia” Aiemsakul was last seen in the Gaithersburg/Laytonsville area at approximately 2:00 a.m. on March 4, 2002. Her ex-boyfriend told authorities that they had an argument at his residence in the 8200 block of Goodhurst Drive. Per The Charley Project, her ex-boyfriend claimed that Aiemsakul walked away from his house shortly afterwards. She never returned to her home and has not been heard from again.

Aiemsakul was enrolled at the Rockville, Maryland campus of Montgomery Community College in early 2002. She lived with her mother and stepfather on the 200 block of Tulip Drive in the Deer Park neighborhood in Gaithersburg, and she was employed at the Red Lobster restaurant on Shady Grove Road.

Aiemsakul frequently visited the Soho Coffee Shop on Connecticut Avenue in the Dupont Circle area. She enjoyed playing pool at the billiard parlor on Snouffer School Road in Gaithersburg. Several of her friends reside in Virginia and she has been known to hitchhike, making some believe it’s possible she was picked up by someone who harmed her. Her family described her as an open and trusting individual who makes friends quickly.

There has not been any activity on Aiemsakul’s credit cards or cellular phone since March 2002; prior to then, she used them daily. Her case remains unsolved and last summer Montgomery County Police released an update stating that investigators recently received a tip regarding Aiemsakul’s disappearance and detectives now believe that she is deceased. That update can be seen below, though information as to what the tip was or why detectives believe she is deceased have not been released:

Per MCPD on Thursday, August 5, 2021: Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCP) -Missing Persons Unit continue to investigate the 2002 disappearance of Ganignunt “Felicia” Aiemsakul.  Aiemsakul was 19 years old when she was last seen by friends during the early morning hours of March 4, 2002, on Goodhurst Drive in the Laytonsville area.  Investigators recently received a tip regarding Aiemsakul’s disappearance and detectives now believe that she is deceased.

Friends of Aiemsakul have created a Facebook page in her memory titled “Justice for Felicia Voices for Forgotten Victims” and are asking anyone with information regarding her disappearance to contact them through the following Facebook page.

MCP detectives continue to urge anyone with information regarding Aiemsakul’s disappearance to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. For those who wish to remain anonymous, tipsters can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).”
