
The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office has announced that a 33-year-old Montgomery Village has been found guilty of raping a woman after a birthday celebration in Gaithersburg.
Per the news release: In the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Eric Johnson, a jury has found defendant, Jose Dimas Ordonez-Marquez, 33, of Montgomery Village, guilty of second-degree rape. The verdict was returned yesterday evening, April 10, 2024. Ordonez-Marquez faces a maximum of 20 years in prison when he is sentenced on September 4, 2024.
This stems from an event on June 19, 2021. Ordonez-Marquez was hosting a gathering at his home to celebrate his birthday. One of the guests became intoxicated and was unconscious in a bedroom, when the defendant entered the bedroom and raped her. In the early morning hours of June 20, 2021, the victim was taken by ambulance to Shady Grove Hospital and consented to a sexual assault forensic examination. Evidence was collected and subsequent DNA testing linked Ordonez-Marquez to the case. He was arrested following a police investigation.
Assistant State’s Attorneys Mary Herdman and Hannah Gleason are handling prosecution of this matter.
