Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the 400blk of Green Pasture Dr in Rockville for the report of a fire at approximately 4pm on Monday, April 15. The family dog was able to alert occupants of the fire before the smoke alarms were activated.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, approximately 45 firefighters responded to the scene. The fire was located in the basement of a single-family home and was electrical in nature. The bulk of the fire was knocked down by 4:30pm and no injuries were reported.
Piringer provided an update stating that the fire started after the entire neighborhood experienced a power outage. The family dog alerted the individuals in the home of the fire before the smoke alarm was activated, which may have helped the family get out of the house safely.
