Four MoCo Student-Athletes Win National Leadership Award and Free Chick-fil-A for a Year

Lead ‘Em Up, a nationally recognized leadership organization that started in Montgomery County back in 2015, holds an annual celebration for 13 student-athletes who receive their prestigious Green 13 award- earned by those who have demonstrated the highest levels of character and leadership. This year four of the 13 winners are based out of Montgomery County with the additional nine scattered across the country.

Over 40,000 student-athletes participate annually in Lead ‘Em Up and each May coaches are given two weeks to nominate athletes they believe are deserving of the Green13 award. The four local winners are Carson Griffey (BCC High School), Mikhail Seiken (Blair High School), Annie Faraone (Quince Orchard High School) and Yvan (Paint Branch High School)

The Green13 awards are sponsored by Kayla Smith, Owner/Operator of the Chick-Fil-A in Germantown, who gifts all 13 winners FREE Chick-Fil-A for an entire year. “We’ve been partners with Lead ‘Em Up for 5-years and the bond we share is our desire to develop leaders. At Chick-Fil-A we are passionate about leadership and specifically helping young people grow into leaders. The Green13 is a great opportunity to celebrate those leaders who are having such a great impact on their teams, in their schools and around their communities”
