The Daily Dish Celebrates its 15th Year Anniversary This Month With a Revamped Menu, Look, and Weekly Anniversary Specials

The Daily Dish, a Silver Spring neighborhood bistro and bar, will celebrate its 15th anniversary in Silver Spring this month. The restaurant opened in 2009 and is the first Montgomery County restaurant from restaurateur and chef Jerry Hollinger.

“We recognize that staying open for 15 years is not something afforded to everyone, and we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support,” said owner Jerry Hollinger, who opened neighborhood go-tos The Dish & Dram in nearby Kensington in 2016 and J. Hollinger’s Waterman’s Chophouse in Silver Spring in 2022.

The Daily Dish is inviting guests to celebrate its 15th anniversary throughout the month with weekly specials that showcase the best of its menu offerings over the years and a few surprises along the way. The celebration kicks off today, Monday, June 3, with happy hour all night long, including $1 oysters on the half shell. Guests are invited to enjoy happy hour food and drink specials this week throughout the restaurant, including on the patio (starting at 3 p.m.). We are told that weekly anniversary specials will be posted here each Monday.

“The entire team at The Daily Dish wants to thank the community and all our guests, who have grown to feel more like family, for their unwavering support,” Hollinger said.

The Daily Dish decided it was also time for an updated look while preserving the heart and soul of the restaurant. The venue recently underwent renovations, along with a menu and branding refresh, to enhance the guest dining experience. The restaurant’s contemporary yet cozy space features colorful artwork by local artists, large windows, and a garage door that opens to the sidewalk patio. The updated space seats 68 indoors (12 at the full bar, 8 at the new floating bar, and 48 at tables) and 34 on the outdoor patio.

Amidst the modern artwork adorning the walls, history is preserved with a framed black-and-white photo of Hollinger’s Farm Market in Ephrata, PA. This family-owned business is where Jerry Hollinger gained a profound appreciation for sourcing high-quality foods and the importance of community. The 1964 photo serves as a tribute to Jerry’s roots and the tradition of gathering around the table to enjoy meals made with locally sourced, high-quality ingredients–a practice cherished regularly by Jerry, his parents, and his six elder siblings while growing up. Today, founder Jerry Hollinger continues this legacy, personally selecting the finest produce each week from historic farms in Maryland and Pennsylvania to bring back seasonal fresh ingredients for all three of his restaurants.  The Daily Dish embodies this communal dining tradition, serving as a beloved gathering spot where the community can come together to enjoy thoughtfully prepared meals in a warm, inviting atmosphere, just as Jerry and his family did.

The Daily Dish, located at 8301 Grubb Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910, is open for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and daily happy hour. Over the years, the restaurant has garnered recognition from critics and guests alike, including winning RAMMY Awards for Favorite Gathering Place in 2018 and Everyday Casual Brunch in 2015 and being a 2017 finalist for Casual Restaurant of the Year.
