Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration is held annually at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in King Farm (1800 Piccard Drive, Rockville, MD). This year the celebration does from 7pm until 10pm.

Free parking is available in lots along Shady Grove and Gaither Roads, as well as on Piccard Drive. These lots are conveniently located near the event site. Attendees are encouraged to use Route 355, Gude Drive, and Shady Grove Road to access these parking lots. Once near the event site, follow event signage, not your GPS.
Accessible parking is available by placard or plate in the parking lot on the corner of Shady Grove Road and Gaither Road. Please display your accessible parking placard when entering the event site.
General Information
- Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the event.
- Bring beach chairs or blankets for comfort, and be mindful of others’ views.
- No chairs or blankets allowed within 100 feet of the stage.
- Outside, prepared food is permitted.
- Most events will take place rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, cancellations will be posted on this page and at www.facebook.com/cityofrockville.
Safety Guidelines
- Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park is smoke and vape free
- Pets are discouraged. Service animals are permitted.
- No tents, barbecuing or open flames
- No outside alcohol
- No wheeled recreational devices
- No noisemakers, glass containers, drones, laser pointers
- No weapons, illegal substances, explosives
- No throwing footballs, frisbees, baseballs or other projectiles
Park Closures
There is no access to the pickleball, basketball, bank shot or tennis courts, dog park, football field, and parking lots at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park from 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3 until Noon on Friday, July 5. All closures are subject to change.
