The funeral for Maryland parole and probation agent Davis Martinez, who was killed in the line of duty last month, is taking place Saturday morning. The wake is from 9:30am until 11am and the funeral service begins at 11am at the Living Word International Christian Church, 16819 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring.
Over $49,000 has been raised by a fundraiser to raise funds for the family of Agent Davis Martinez who is believed to be murdered by a parolee, Emanuel Sewell, last month in Chevy Chase. According to the fundraiser, Agent Martinez was the “sole provider for his 66 year old mother and 29 year old autistic brother.”
Per the fundraiser: “I am Michael Martinez, the heartbroken and devastated brother of Agent Davis Geovanni Martinez. His life was tragically taken from his family by a parolee during what should have been just a routine home visit. Our hearts ache with the unbearable loss we feel every day.
Agent Davis G. Martinez dedicated six honorable years of his life to serving in the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. His commitment and sacrifice for the safety of others leaves a void that will never be filled. The entire state of Maryland mourns alongside us.
Davis was not just a dedicated agent, but also the sole provider for his 66 year old mother and 29 year old autistic brother. The weight of this responsibility now falls heavily on our family’s shoulders. We are reaching out to raise funds for expenses of his funeral service that are not covered by the State . Every penny raised beyond that will be used to support his family as they try to navigate life without him by their side.
Please, let your hearts be moved to support us in any way you can. Let us honor the memory of Agent Davis G. Martinez, a selfless man who gave everything to serve others. Our family is shattered and struggling to pick up the pieces, but with your help, we may find some solace in knowing that his legacy lives on through the love and support of those who care. Thank you.” Featured photo by Tim Pruss, @MyDronePro on Twitter/X.
