Commanders President Jason Wright Was Finalist for Packers President/CEO Position

CBS NFL Insider Jonathan Jones reported that Washington Commanders president Jason Wright was a finalist for the Green Bay Packers president & CEO position that ultimately went to Ed Policy.

Jason Wright has been the president of the Washington Commanders since August 2020. As president, Wright has been responsible for leading the organization’s business divisions, including operations, finance, sales, and marketing. He is the first Black team president in the history of the NFL and currently is the youngest team president in the League. He is the fourth former NFL player to become president of a team. As of now, he remains president of the franchise under new ownership.

Jonathan Jones reported the following, “Washington Commanders president Jason Wright was a finalist for the Packers president & CEO position, sources tell @NFLonCBS. Wright, a Northwestern grad and former NFL player, would have been the first Black man in league history to be in what’s essentially an owner’s chair.”

Edward R. Policy, the Green Bay Packers’ chief operating officer and general counsel, was elected as the organization’s next Chairman of the Board, President and CEO, a position he will formally assume in July of 2025 at the Packers Annual Meeting of Shareholders when Mark Murphy officially retires from the role.
