Olney’s James Wood to Debut For The Washington Nationals

MoCo native James Wood was born in Rockville and grew up in Olney, where he initially attended St. John’s College High School in Washington DC before transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, after his sophomore season to focus solely on baseball. Today, he makes his debut with the Washington Nationals.

Tonight’s Nationals vs. Mets game begins at 6:45 pm and be shown on the MLB Network, MLB.TV and MASN. It can be heard on 106.7 The Fan and DC 87.7. Wood is likely to play left field.

He was selected by the Padres in the second round of the 2021 MLB Draft and was acquired by the Nats at the ‘22 trade deadline as part of the blockbuster Juan Soto deal. Wood is one of baseball’s top prospects and hopes to make an immediate impact with the Nats. Featured photo courtesy of the @Nationals on instagram.
