As the community mourns the loss of Fawzan Hassan, the 6-year-old boy who was found in the pond at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg on Sunday, the First Hijrah Foundation (described as a non-profit, non-political, humanitarian Islamic organization established by Ethiopian Muslims in North America) has shared information regarding his funeral.
Per First Hijrah Foundation: “It is with an extreme broken heart that we announce the death of our baby Fawzan Hassen.
He was the son of our dear brother Tofik Hassen and dear sister Keria Ali. He has one brother and two sisters. May ALLAH, the Almighty, bless the whole family and the community with patience (Sabir).
Salatal Jenaza will be tomorrow, Tuesday, 07/30/2024, at MCC Mosque at 1:00PM located at 15200 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20905
Immediately after the Salatul Janaza, the burial will be held at Al-Firdaus Memorial Gardens located at 3845 New Design Rd, Frederick, MD 21703
After the burial is completed, the family will have sadaka at New First Hijrah Foundation Headquarter, located at 3215 Powder Mill Rd, Adelphi MD 20783

Per Montgomery County Police on Sunday, July 28th: “The body of six-year-old Fawzan Hassan, who went missing on Saturday, July 27, 2024, has been recovered.
Hassan was last seen at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday. An extensive search for the boy continued through Sunday, when his body surfaced in the pond at Bohrer Park at 5:25 p.m.
Montgomery County Police Managed Search Operations Team personnel, who were coordinating the search, responded to the pond and recovered the body, which has been positively identified as Fawzan Hassan. The family has been notified, and Hassan will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause of death.”
