Jayden Daniels Impresses in Limited First NFL Preseason Action

Jayden Daniels was drafted #2 overall in this year’s NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. Expectations are high and after generally positive reviews during training camp and joint practices with the Jets, Daniels played well in his first official NFL preseason action on Saturday afternoon.

After a few handoffs to set the pace and an overthrown screen pass to Austin Ekeler, Daniels settled in and threw a beautiful deep ball for 42 yards to Dyami Brown. He then zipped a short pass to Terry McLaurin and glided into the end zone for a three yard run in the only series he played in the game.

Daniels finished 2 for 3 for 45 yards with 1 rush for 3 yards and a touchdown. The great series doesn’t mean much other than showing he can make similar plays to the ones he made in college to earn being drafted as high as he was. For the first time in a while, real optimism is in the air for the Commanders.
