Takoma Park Police responded to a report of an armed robbery/kidnapping in the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue at approximately 12:16 pm on Tuesday.
According to police, “The victim, fearing for his life, had first gone home before contacting the police. He reported that he had parked his vehicle in the 900 block of East West Highway and walked to a food truck on New Hampshire Avenue. Upon returning to his vehicle and getting into the driver’s seat, two unknown suspects entered the back seat of his car. One suspect brandished a knife and demanded money. The victim, stating he had no cash, was forced to drive to the Bank of America in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he withdrew money and handed it over to the suspects.
During the encounter, one suspect in the back seat gestured as if he had a gun. Fearing he would also be carjacked; the victim exited the vehicle. However, both suspects also exited the vehicle and fled on foot toward the U-Haul rental facility instead of taking the car.
